Want to impact change daily? LIBRE is looking for a Policy Director to lead its policy efforts. The Director will serve as LIBRE’s policy expert and will be responsible for the management, development, and coordination of LIBRE’s policy portfolio --Rooted in the Hispanic community, The LIBRE Initiative brings people together to advance the solutions that create the freedom and opportunity that people need to discover and develop their potential.
This role is based in our Arlington, VA office.
How You Will Contribute:
- Work with the Libre Executive Leadership Team and the Policy leadership team, to develop a policy agenda for LIBRE.
- Develop and implement federal, state, and local legislative policy strategies to advance organizational priorities.
- Coordinate with subject matter experts across the broader policy team to execute on LIBRE’s core policy priorities.
- Work with the state and federal government affairs team and state grassroots teams to identify and drive opportunities for LIBRE policy engagement.
- Assist on the appropriate messaging to reflect the Hispanic voice to make the greatest impact on our educational and advocacy activities.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of our messaging.
- Serve as Brand-Policy approval point of contact for ads, statements, op-eds, etc.
- Gather relevant data relevant to support advocacy efforts re:Hispanic community.
- Along with the LIBRE Executive leadership team, assist in the development, strengthening and advancement of the LIBRE brand.
- Collaborate with the organization’s key staff to identify relevant local and national issues that are important to the Hispanic community across LIBRE chapter states.
- Assist with organizing policy events such as Hill briefings, policy panels, and roundtables/forums with potential travel to chapter states.
- Collaborate with colleagues on the policy team to produce and maintain a library of policy education resources and tools for grassroots, digital, and communications teams.
What You Will Bring:
- Substantive experience in policy research, policy analysis, advocacy, coalition building, or government affairs.
- Ability to work in an independent office, yet contribute as part of a geographically diverse team.
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-moving environment.
- Ability to research, interpret, and summarize dense material in a timely manner.
- Must have experience and be comfortable with public speaking.
- Ability to multi-task and possess strong attention to detail.
- English language fluency and writing skills.
- Values team collaboration, transparency, and timely communication of changing priorities.
- Values integrity, humility, and an entrepreneurial attitude.
Standout Candidates Will Bring:
- Experience and knowledge of working with the Hispanic community.
- Experience and knowledge of economic (employment, tax, spending, regulations), education, health care, and immigration policy.
- Media experience.
- Spanish language fluency and writing skills.
